This is a hand cut roof that we have constructed in Copford, Essex. This roof was very complex on the way it had to be completed to meet all U vales needed to comply with regulation on insulation. We really enjoyed this build which as you can see is really starting to take shape.
Firstly, we needed to put all the structural beams in so then the roof could then be constructed. These were all spec on sizes needed by structural engineer.
Then we started building the framework needed for the roof to create the shape.
This was then followed by putting all the rafters and joist in the correct positions. They were all fixing in accordance with building regulations.
Then we had to start fitting all the insulation needed to keep the heat in. This design was very complex but made the u vale of the roof extremely high meaning that the building will be extremely well insulated. There were 150mm Celotex on the flat roof. For the rafter there were 70mm on top of rafters and 70mm in between.
The customer wanted to have as much light in there kitchen as possible to we also added a roof lantern to that area.
Then we fitted the black ash PVC facia to the building ready for guttering when the roof had been made water tight.
